Councilmember Kim Pexton was born in Douglas and raised on a ranch 25 miles south of town with her parents and two siblings. She attended a rural school for 6 years and then attended Douglas Middle and High schools. After graduation, Kim married and had two children, both of whom reside in Douglas. In 1994, Kim graduated from the University of Wyoming with a Bachelors in Social Work. She then furthered her education with a Masters in Social Work from the University of Denver in 2002.
Community work has always been Kim’s passion. Through her research project while at UW, she wrote a grant to start the Central Wyoming Family Planning Clinic and then became project director for that clinic. She was also the Tobacco Prevention Manager for Converse County. Kim’s current adventure is co-owning The Body Shop, a 24-hour fitness facility, with her son, Carl Kosters. She has been a Personal Trainer for over 10 years and is a member of the Converse County Tourism Board.
Living in Wyoming has been very rewarding for Kim and her family. The Douglas community has been tremendously helpful in helping her to raise her kids in a productive way. Family is extremely important to Kim, as is this community.
