The City of Douglas has contracted Wild Wood Tree Services, and will be
trimming, and/ or removing "Parkway Trees".
Parkway trees are trees, generally located in the area between the sidewalk and
curb. Per city ordinance, it states that the responsibility for maintenance of
these areas lies upon the adjacent property owners/residents.
The City of Douglas has established a hazardous tree mitigation program, to
potentially run the course of the next three years, to cover the cost of this
action to help reduce some of the potential risk for accidents or injury. It is
impossible to determine the failure of a tree, as a healthy tree, by appearance,
can unexpectedly pose a hazard. It is our goal to reduce some of the risk and
maintain a healthy tree canopy for our community, and the future of our
community.
If you have noticed a red mark on a tree, it means; that tree has been selected
for removal. We will be working in quadrants and will be marking the trees as
work progresses.
Trees offer so many beneficial factors to our environment. We hope you will
consider our cost share 50/50 replant program. More information is available
on the City of Douglas' web site, regarding this program, or you may contact
the Parks Dept. with any questions.
